McCall's First Annual Oktoberfest
Alpine Village and MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter are teaming up for McCall's first Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, October 3rd from Noon to 6:00 pm on the Alpine Village plaza here in downtown McCall. All proceeds will benefit MCPAWS, McCall's only non-profit all volunteer animal shelter.
There will be a beer garden, live music, traditional German dancing, a bouncy house and face painting for the kids, and raffles throughout the day.
Scheduled to perform on stage are John Costar, Lois Fry & Dale James, Dan Wilson & Friends, GlennKelly and KDZY Radio.
Participating vendors include Salmon River Brewery, Jug Mountain Ranch, Shore Lodge, McCall Brewing Company, Si Bueno, Foresters Club & Dog House Saloon, Crusty's Pizza, Miche Bags, Edward Jones, Maury Design, McCall Boat Works & Storage and Hietala Photography.

Idaho Conservation League Hike - French Creek
Join ICL members for this moderate to strenuous, 4-8 mile round trip (depending on group) hike in the French Creek proposed wilderness where there is abundant wildlife. The hike climbs to the Black Tip Mountain for a commanding view of French Creek drainage, and than continue either to French Creek drainage or to French Creek Lakes.

Backcountry Aviation Exhibition
Alpine Village celebrates the completion of the Firetower Building and our pedestrian plaza by hosting the Backcountry Aviation Exhibition, a celebration of flight in Central Idaho, on July 4th and 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This family-friendly event features three backcountry planes - a Cessna 206, Super Cub and an American Champion Scout - on display in the Alpine Village plaza, giving visitors an up close look at the aircraft, as well as the Saint Alphonsus Life Flight helicopter. Staff and pilots will be on hand to answer questions and give tours.
In addition to the aircraft, visitors will be able to learn about the spectacular destinations throughout Idaho accessible only by airplane. McCall Aviation, flight training seminar provider Mountain Canyon Flying, the Idaho Aviation Association and the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association are all scheduled to participate in the exhibition.
This event marks the completion of Phase One of Alpine Village. The holiday weekend is a great time to come by and see what you have been hearing about for so long. Nine beautifully furnished condominiums are open for personal tours, and can now be reserved for vacation lodging stays. The Backcountry Aviation Exhibition marks the first of many social events on the plaza, including our movie nights Fridays on the plaza throughout the summer.

Nearly two weeks ahead of schedule, the Idaho State Liquor Dispensary in McCall is opening on the plaza at Alpine Village.
Store hours are 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sundays. From Memorial through Labor Day open until 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

2009 Winter Special Olympics Events in McCall
Come out to Ponderosa State Park for the 2009 Special Olympics snowshoe events here in McCall. Athletes have come from around the world to race on the beautiful trails along Payette Lake. Races begin Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the 200 meters, 50 meters and 4x400 meter relay divisioning. Wednesday and Thursday, events are scheduled from 9:00 to 4:00, including the 800 meters, 4x100 relay, 4x400 meter relay and the 5K finals. Any make-up races and events will be held between 9:30 and noon on Friday.

Winter Trails Day Events in McCall
Annual event held around the country to get people out on the trails on snowshoes and Nordic skis. Free snowshoe rentals at Ponderosa State Park from 11 am to 2:30 pm and ski gear will be available to rent. The McCall Chorale, Christmas Celebration: A Community Carol-Along
McCall Chorale will perform selections from Handel's Messiah and works by choral composer John Rutter. They will be accompanied by the Centennial High School Chamber Orchestra and Cascade organist Dr. Tom Harris. Additional performances by the McCall Community Children's Chorus. Backcountry Film Festival
Central Idaho Recreation Coalition (CIRC) is holding a Backcountry Film Festival at the Little Ski Hill west of McCall on Hwy. 55, December 6th at 7:00 pm. Tickets will sell for $10. The Festival will be a fundraiser for CIRC, with the support of Winter Wildlands Alliance, as CIRC grows in its role as the premiere organization promoting human powered recreation in central western Idaho. View three films: Handcut, My Own Two Feet, and Ride It Out - all of them ripping tales of wide-eyed winter in Idaho’s wild backcountry.
Come at 6:00 pm for a Dutch oven dinner ($10) and purchase raffle tickets for $1.00 and beer for $4.00 per glass.
